The Director’s Office applies for and accepts extramural awards on behalf of the University of Hawai’i (UH); this office executes legal agreements, recommends and issues UH policies and procedures relating to extramurally sponsored projects and reports on sponsored research to the UH Board of Regents (BOR) and the Office of the President.
Contracts and Grants Administration
The Contracts and Grants Administration section provides services to administer contracts and grants for all UH campuses. This includes, but not limited to, assisting Principal Investigators (PIs) with proposal submissions, contract negotiations, and fully executing extramural award agreements with sponsors.
Extramural Funds Accounting
The Extramural Funds Accounting section provides accounting services through two sub-sections: Fiscal Management and Financial Services.
The Fiscal Management section establishes and administers project accounts, assuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and award terms and conditions. This section also processes reimbursement requests and maintains UH financial records.
The Financial Services section coordinates cash management, account closeout, and account collection activities.
The Financial Compliance section coordinates the annual OMB Single Audit, sponsor audits / reviews, effort reporting, and performs compliance monitoring activities.
Information Systems Services
The Information Systems Services section provides information technology support to ORS and OVPRI units, oversees the university’s extramural award tracking system, myGRANT and coordinates electronic research administration (eRA) services for investigators and others at UH across the UH system. This section also manages ORS and OVPRI websites, provides extramural reporting, and operates the ORS Helpline.
